DESCRIPTION
Analyzes the possible extension of the useful life of wind turbines and offers an advance in their structural maintenance.
GOALS
ERROTAID proposes a comprehensive solution to extend the life of wind turbine structures. For this, real-time monitoring is used using advanced artificial intelligence and drones with augmented reality vision.
Saitec, in line with its objective of innovation, leads this technological initiative in which IDK Elektronika, RDT Ingenieros and Tecnalia Research and Innovation also participate.
The first generation wind turbines are ending their operational life. In the coming years, many wind farms will have to choose between extending the useful life of their assets, or carrying out repowering to replace old wind turbines with more modern ones.
ERROTAID arises to analyze whether it is possible to extend the useful life of existing structures, as well as to establish a new advanced structural maintenance framework for new units, through real-time knowledge of the structural behavior of wind towers, controlling possible incidents. with advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques and carrying out inspections with specifically designed drones that will have augmented reality and machine learning tools.
This project has received aid from the expense budget of the Department of Economic Development and Infrastructures of the Basque Government and the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER).
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The Errotaid project has been selected as a finalist in the World of Digital Built Environment WDBE2023 Awards, within the “Most advanced digital twin” category.
The winners will be announced on September 20, 2023 at the Summit awards ceremony in Helsinki.
